For five months I got up at 4am almost every morning ready to show up to every place that served coffee in the 15th congressional district, churches, VFW’s, Chambers of Commerce, Senior Centers, Lincoln Day Dinners, and anywhere people would listen to me. I even showed up to places the Republican establishment would not let me speak. I met so many wonderful people who love our state and country and are willing to fight for the freedom that has made them great.
Amidst threats and job offers to get my team to quit the race, constant rumors and lies and $3 million of slanderous TV, radio ads, and mailers, we achieved nearly 50,000 votes. With my hard working wife, a devoted campaign manager, a few minimally paid staff, and hundreds of volunteers we successfully called and knocked on the doors of thousands in the rain, snow and cold, and raised nearly $300,00 mostly from generous individuals like you.
Unfortunately we were unable to survive the million dollar onslaught of lies from my opponent. I can assure you, however, we did not lie, cheat, or steal. My integrity remains and that is what is important.
You should know however, I am not finished. My quest was to bring about the justice that the people of IL15 deserve. I am committed to that and I am going to stay engaged. I will keep my word and promise to abide by term limits. Until the end of my term in the state senate in 2018, I will stay busy doing everything I can to bring about a budget for Illinois and the much needed business reforms to bring back jobs for our families.
John Adams said. “It does not require a majority to prevail, but rather an irate, tireless minority keen to set brush fires in people’s minds…” In this campaign we have set many a brush fire. Together we must take back our country from a government that is out of touch and out of control, one freedom fire at a time.
May God bless you and thank you again for all your support.
